A very tough streak for second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls lately resulted in a three-game losing streak and one loss that left a real sour taste on the night of Jan. 15. Donovan and the Bulls moved their losing streak from two games to three on Jan. 15 at the end of back-to-back road games against head coach Ime Udoka and the Boston Celtics.

It was at least the closest game the Bulls have played against any playoff contender in a while. The Bulls have been beaten in three of their previous four games by teams with winning records earlier in the week, each with convincing double-digit margins.

The struggles for the Bulls really began when they fell to superstar point guard Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on the road on January 9 by the final score of 113-99. It was the first of what are now four losses in the Bulls’ last five games.

And then the Bulls were easily defeated by a combined margin of more than 50 points by the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors on January 12 and 14, respectively. That’s why it was so important for the Bulls to start righting the ship in a key meeting with the Celtics on the road this weekend.

However, the Bulls still fell short in the end against the Celtics by a score of 114-112. The Bulls just couldn’t close that one late. But there were still some positive signs that emerged for the Bulls against the Celtics when it came to some young players stepping into the spotlight.

It was actually an emerging trend over the past two weeks for the Bulls. Here’s a look at three young players who stand out for the Bulls as the team struggles to find success in the win column.
