Rudy Gobert caught national media attention when he responded to Shaquille O’Neal’s bold claim that the France international wouldn’t stand a chance against him in his prime. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year’s bold response to shutting down O’Neal was derided by most fans and several basketball analysts.
“The Undisputed” co-hosts Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless have hammered the Utah Jazz Center for “barking at the wrong tree.” Bayless bluntly called Gobert a “fake badass,” which didn’t sit well with the three-time All-Star.
Here’s how Gobert responded to the veteran sports analyst’s scathing remarks:
“Would you talk to me like that if you stood in front of me @RealSkipBayless ? I’m cool with the constant disrespect and opinions of who I am as a player and I CHOOSE to let those things slide, but it seems like people are starting to feel comfortable…”
Gobert seems like a level-headed person who goes about his business in the NBA despite ridicule and taunts. He usually takes criticism with alacrity, proving his worth on the basketball court rather than talking on social media.
Bayless, however, is legendary for his provocative and sometimes hurtful comments. Gobert isn’t the first to be criticized and probably won’t be the last. This is where he carved his name.
Host FS1 probably won’t back down on his remarks. It’s a guarantee that he’ll repeat everything in Gobert’s face in the exact tone he used when recording. He would even double down on his comments with more venom.
Gobert recklessly added fuel to the fire with a follow-up message:
“Only two people on this earth are allowed to talk to me that way @RealSkipBayless . And you’re not one of them.
Rudy Gobert isn’t the only NBA superstar Skip Bayless has had a falling out with
Skip Bayless is a hardcore LeBron James critic. He’s even stalking the four-time MVP this offseason, shooting the LA Lakers superstar for almost anything under the sun. It’s nearly impossible for the Fox Sports analyst to survive a week without delving into “King James.”
To James’ credit, he never even gave Bayless’ shots a shred of importance when responding on social media.
Even Kevin Durant had had enough of Bayless’s tweets as the latter praised him earlier this season.
The Brooklyn Nets superstar said flatly and simply:
“I really don’t like you”
Durant’s direct message got a volley back:
“Kevin Durant is the best player on the planet. But when it comes to dealing with the media and social media, he has a loose screw. He is the thinnest skinned superstar ever. THERE IS NO REASON TO BE. IT’S KEVIN FREAKIN DURANT. HE SHOULD BE ABOVE PSYCHO FIRES AND BURNER COUNTS.
If Skip Bayless enjoys chasing after Kevin Durant, he will never back down from Rudy Gobert.
